The Pegipegi story

Pegipegi was launched in May 2012 by the then Minister of Tourism, Mari Elka Pangestu. The founders of Pegipegi created the company to provide an easy online reservation experience for people in and travelling to Indonesia. 

Through its website and mobile app, Pegipegi enables its users to book their flights, hotel reservations, and train tickets all in one platform. Today, Pegipegi is connected to more than 25,000 hotels, has booked more than 25,000 flights, nearly 3,000 train routes, and published almost 8,000 articles to make travelling to, through, and from Indonesia easier. 

The recruitment process

Graduates who are keen to start their career with Pegipegi can see all advertised roles on the Pegipegi website, along with details of what is required and the responsibilities involved. If graduates find that their ideal role is unavailable, Pegipegi is open to receiving unsolicited resumes. 

Online, graduates should expect to not only upload their CV, but also complete an online form including a cover letter and answering questions about their willingness to relocate, do shift work and their criminal history. 

Shortlisted candidates are interviewed by a manager and a member of the HR team. Following the interview, chosen candidates are called back for salary negotiations and company orientation. 

Career prospects

Graduates can apply for entry-level positions at Pegipegi including data engineer roles, which require a degree in computer science, IT or math, with a minimum GPA of 3.25. It’s recommended that candidates have an understanding of cloud technologies and a high proficiency in SQL, Python and bash script. Software quality assurance roles are also open to graduates, with applicants required to have a bachelor degree in IT or a related field.  

Software engineers and UX designers can expect to move into roles such as Engineering Lead or Senior UX Designer, after three years, provided they can demonstrate solid communication and problem-solving skills, as well as a strong sense of curiosity.

Remuneration

Pegipegi claims to offer ‘very competitive’ salaries, as well as health coverage for employees and their families. Pegipegi’s software engineers can expect to earn IDR 10,000,000 each month. 

The culture

Pegipegi prides itself on a casual, jeans and sneakers environment, where games such as badminton and futsal make a regular appearance. Expect to be well-fed, with Pegipegi offering free meals each day. Learning is central to the Pegipegi culture, with funding allocated to every employee to undertake training or attend workshops or seminars.
